The high volume of commuters from Miranda State to Caracas was the reason for the creation of Metro de Los Teques' Line 2, as a way to provide alternate ways to commute and free up Line 1 and Panamericana highway. This new subway system covers 13.8 km (8.08 mi) and has seven stations: Guaicaipuro, Independencia, Los Cerritos, Carrizal, La Carbonera, Las Minas and San Antonio de Los Altos.
From May 2012, working for Thales, we carried out the technical and field coordination for the train control and communications group. Additionally, we completed the installation, testing and commissioning of several systems: fiber optics data transmission network, PABX and emergency telephony, public address and passenger information systems, closed circuit television (CCTV) and radio communication system in tunnels and stations.
Likewise, we implemented the Centralized Control System (SCADA) in the Operation Control Center (CCO) and the stations.
Currently, Line 2 works are in progress, Guaicaipuro and Independencia are the only operative stations, so far.
