Metro de Caracas is the city's mass rapid transit system; it runs on the east - West axis of Venezuela's capital city. This subway system covers 66 km (41.1 mi) and has 47 stations. Line 1 has 22 stations from Propatria to Palo Verde. It has 20.4 km (12.7 mi) of railroads.
From January 1999 to December 2008, Telematica performed preventive and corrective maintenance duties at the Operations Control Center and the system's fixed communication devices.
As of June 2007 until February 2009 Telematica, on a Zenitel contract, installed and commissioned the radio devices in stations, tunnels and trains, as well as the fiber optics network for Line 1.
Paralelamente, desde septiembre 2009 hasta mayo 2011, Telematica through Thales corporation, installed and commissioned the SCADA devices for the upgrade of the Centralized Control System of Line 1, as well as the informatic platform installed in the Operations Control Center (CCO).
Metro de Caracas opened January 2 , 1983, covering 6.7 km (4.1 mi). It transports over two million passengers a day. Caracas' inhabitants and visitors prefer this system, which is considered the fastest, most secure way to move within the city.
